Springfield, Ohio, schools open with increased security amid threats

The Ohio community is traveling to Springfield Ohio to speak out against the fear that has been spreading in Ohio and now false claims that have been spread by Donald Trump and J.D. Vance targeting Haitian immigrants in the city. What the Republican governor said while he was in that community today, is bomb threats now that hospitals, schools, and the city have been shut down. Hall here is Rachel Scott. I’m telling you nine Ohio’s popular Republican governor is traveling to the city and Springfield. I like to show support for a community that has been under stress ever since former President Donald Trump amplified both conspiracy theories that Haitian immigrants were eating neighborhood pants. Governor Mike DeWine has said that the story is not true in Springfield. They’re eating dogs people who came there are eating cats.

eating the pets of people who live there local officials say there is no evidence that Haitian immigrants in Springfield are eating cats and dogs. The governor said the claim is nonsense, but in the weeks following the debate, there have been at least thirty-three bomb threats in Springfield, including to City Hall. The home of hospitals was put on lockdown. You can’t go back to school to visit one of the many schools that were evacuated today it’s a great atmosphere and great drama we’re doing everything we can to make sure your kids are going to do this. Trump’s running mate Sen. Jean Events who represents Ohio was among the first to spread the false story. When asked about it he said If I have to name names and make up stories so that the American media pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do.

But today the Ohio Republican government defended Haitian immigrants, most of whom are in the country legally, as the key to Springfield’s economic revival. We had one person tell me I’m not sure my business would be here, bought for Haitians. Today Vice President or Harris says Trump’s words have left an entire community in shock. There is a crime in fear and we have to say you can’t be interested in that.

What stands behind the seal of the President of the United States? Engaging in that hateful rhetoric that as usual is designed to divide us as a country.
