Now speaking of the Middle East, Israel has killed a top military commander of Hezbollah in Beirut, while the White House continues to press for diplomacy to avoid further escalation. A week ago this morning we learned from the Lebanese Ministry of Health that the death toll in this airstrike on southern May Room has risen. The ministry says the dead include children. Search and rescue operations are still underway at the site as we learn new details about Hezbollah blocking Israel’s target, our commander said. Tensions are rising between Israel and Lebanon after Israel launched an airstrike targeting Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital Beirut this morning.
This morning the Lebanese Ministry of Health said at least thirty-one people were killed in the attack. Sixty-eight were injured. Ibrahim Keil, one of Hezbollah’s top commanders, was killed in the airstrike. This is the worst attack the Middle East has ever seen against the United States. He was wanted by the US for his role in the 1983 bombings of the US Embassy and Marine Corps barracks in Beirut in which more than 300 Americans were killed. Friday’s airstrikes left streets littered with debris from destroyed buildings and debris. The attack came just before rush hour in Beirut and is the third major attack on a civilian part of the city. The idea of launching attacks in Lebanon earlier this week that required hundreds of handheld pagers and radios of suspected Hezbollah members. Which are creating fear across the country. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement about the attack that our goals are clear. Our actions speak for themselves.
