Breaking news in the Sean Diddy Combs case he’s back in federal court in Manhattan today. He said he’s trying to secure bail. The music legend was denied bail yesterday following his arrest on sex trafficking and other charges. Prosecutors say the charges stem from years of sexual abuse and threats against women. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges and he pleaded guilty tomorrow I want to bring you some big news. Alex Zone along with abuse legal contributor and trial attorney Brian Buck mine or one of those out there so again we’re still waiting to hear the judge’s decision today. Because again his defense team is trying to get him out on this fifty million dollar bond Alex does this.
My producer just told me in my ear that he’s been ordered into custody again. Okay so the judge Judge Andrew Carter has decided that Sean Diddy Combs will be held in a federal facility again. Was learning from our Erica Turkey who is in that court that already this judge was very skeptical of some of the arguments that were made by the defense. That order just now coming up I think throughout the day today. That judge was skeptical about this from the very beginning, talking about the video that was seen around the world in L.A. Combs was allegedly attacking his then-girlfriend. The judge was saying what does love have to do with it, as a defense was saying it was an affair. It was nothing more than consensual activity that deteriorated from there, but prosecutors said there’s clear evidence of Combs being a dangerous dangerous. Also about the pattern of abuse they were saying today, but the defense offered the sun and the moon and we’ll do anything.
Fifty million dollar bail after bail if you allow, he’ll have police on duty outside his house that come. snatches his cell phone, does anything on the judge’s decision. The judge said no way he would stay in jail. He’s just fine and again I’m sharing reporting from Iran Qatar ski. Whoever is in that courtroom said Combs didn’t react but had his eyes downcast as he sat at the defense table. When all of this happened and so I’m turning back to Brian or to you the bail path package was inadequate for this defense motion.
On the other side of that the government provided ample evidence that Combs is a danger to the community. There is a danger of obstruction of justice and intimidating witnesses. Brian I find some of that language particularly interesting. When you think about what his defense attorneys were trying to argue. They were essentially trying to paint what it would look like if he were released on bail. So what would that look like with security teams monitoring his comings and goings, who would come in residents and Brian’s own defense attorney used that kind of language. Which I’m trying to say is a situation where it would be nearly impossible to intimidate any witnesses.
This was an issue that we touched on yesterday with the initial judge that when evaluating this case for the possibility of bond and or bail that there’s always the issue of flight. That he could flee the state or flee the country. Whatever it is it may not come back to court, but also whether or not Sean exerts his power and influence, that he could have the strength to intimidate. Intimidate our witnesses or make repeated or actual funding that harms other women in his inner circle, or aggressively try to make sure that he has no opportunity to intimidate witnesses. Even though there is legitimate evidence that he’s been reaching out to some of those women to try to make sure that they’re not coming forward. That’s how the case came forward, but it sounds like as you quoted the judge. He thought it was insufficient that whatever bill package they tried to put forward was not enough for this judge quarter to say this.
