What new poll says about state of presidential race following the debate

A new News Ipsos poll just came out this morning, so let’s call our political director and Washington bureau chief, who are ready to record this morning. It’s always great to have you, so overall let’s hear what our new poll says about where this race stands after this debate. Kamel A. Harris holds a six point lead over Trump among all of our fifty to forty six likely voters. This is exactly where the race stood two weeks ago on the eve of the debate, no change, although some were even worse. Typing into the poll in the few weeks after national polling ever suggested that things were turning in our favor, it looks like this race has shifted back to a solid but heavy lead for Kamel A. Harris. Especially with her base starting to come home a little bit more. And feeling more enthusiastic about her candidacy name, but Rick both sides were declaring victory. We would like to tell voters who won the debate, this poll puts it very securely in Kamel A. Harris’ column. Particularly among independents, maybe more important than that though take a look at these numbers many people say they view Harris more favorably as a result of this debate.

Thirty-seven versus twenty-three percent who say less favorably it’s almost the opposite story for Donald Trump. Two to one margin voters said they view Trump less favorably as a result of this debate. Again this goes back to enthusiasm and what kind of voters are supporting your candidacy. Harris is making us feel really good about her coming out of that debate. Addressing some of the concerns of voters who may not know her well and Rick Go we know we’re entering a new era of politics. When pollsters are asking about Taylor Swift’s endorsement and what people are saying about it. They’ll see that it’s not looking like a game changer. Only six percent of Americans on the early results say they’re more likely to vote for a few hours as a result of Swift endorsement. More than twice as many say they’re less likely but it should be noted that these Swift opponents are almost exclusively Republicans who vote for Trump wherever they’re going and we’ve seen a surge in voter registrations in the last few days.

The fact that Swift takes over the Harris campaign is not going to change the trajectory of this race regardless. There’s never a dull moment in this campaign as the Rush Limbaughs are as fierce as ever. This weekend on This Morning Martha Raddatz covers the week to week twenty four races with governors specifically talking about the state of Ohio Republican Mike DeWine and Massachusetts Democrat Maura Healey.
